Besiktas sack Solskjaer after their painful exit from European football.
The Turkish club removed the Norwegian coach on Thursday after a second-leg loss against Swiss side Lausanne in the UEFA Conference League play-off.
A 1-0 defeat in Istanbul meant Besiktas went out 2-1 on aggregate.
Club leaders met urgently after the game and agreed to part ways with Solskjaer.
In a statement, Besiktas said their contract with him had ended.

President Serdal Adali also thanked the coach for his short time at the club.
Solskjaer took charge in January after three years away from coaching. But pressure grew quickly.
Last season, Besiktas finished fourth in the Turkish league, and this year results in Europe made matters worse.
The team had already been knocked out of the Europa League by Shakhtar Donetsk in July.
The Norwegian coach started his journey with Manchester United’s reserves before moving to Molde in his home country.
His biggest step came in December 2019 when he became interim manager at Manchester United.
He later earned the job full-time and even guided United to second place in the Premier League in 2021.
However, his story at Old Trafford ended in November 2021 when the club let him go.
Now, history repeats itself as Besiktas sack Solskjaer after just eight months in charge.
Fans are now waiting to see who will replace him and what direction the club will take.
