On June 7, 2020, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) reported a significant increase in Covid-19 cases across the African continent.

The number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases rose from 176,807 on Saturday afternoon to 183,474 by Sunday afternoon, according to the Africa CDC.
Unfortunately, the death toll from the pandemic also rose from 4,902 on Saturday afternoon to 5,041 as of Sunday afternoon, the Africa CDC reported.
Despite the challenges, some 81,367 people who have been infected with Covid-19 have recovered across the continent so far, the Africa CDC noted.
Notably, northern Africa is the most affected area across the continent both in terms of positive Covid-19 cases and the number of deaths, the Africa CDC disclosed.
