Published on June 8, 2020, the results of the 2021 Diversity Visa program, also known as the Green Card lottery, are now available online.
Individuals who entered the lottery during the open registration period between October 2, 2019, and November 5, 2019, can now check if they are among the lucky winners.
Those who participated in the lottery registration last year can check their status by providing their confirmation number, last/family name, and birth year at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ESC/(S(3ue1pd1gcj4gbmgyb4ji5f5v))/CheckStatus.aspx.
The Diversity Visa program was established in the Immigration Act of 1990 to make the immigrant population of the United States more diverse by offering 55,000 permanent resident visas on a lottery basis to nationals of countries with low immigration rates.
For DV-2021, nationals of countries with high immigration rates to the US, including Bangladesh, Brazil, and India, were not eligible to participate in the program.
Kenyan nationals, however, were eligible to participate in the DV-2021 lottery.
Winners of DV-2021 will undergo background checks, health screening, and interviews at a US embassy or consulate before they can migrate to the United States as green card holders in 2021.
