On June 8, 2020, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji shed light on the Kimwarer and Arror dam scandal, distancing Deputy President William Ruto from the alleged theft.

During an interview, Haji revealed that the Ministries of Finance, Devolution, and Agriculture were involved in siphoning over Sh5 billion from the project.

”Kimwarer and Arror have nothing whatsoever to do with the Deputy President. It is about loans that were taken to the detriment of the Kenyan people,” he said.

He further alleged that ministry officials pocketed the money, stating, ”Later, the money was pocketed by a few known people from the respective ministries.”

When asked about the status of the cases, Haji mentioned that they had received leads on who received what, but the case was still in court due to a high number of applications.
