On June 7, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta's plans to reshuffle the cabinet were reported, with speculation that the move would target cabinet secretaries allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

According to Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi, a close aide to DP Ruto, the second-in-command's camp had anticipated the changes and had informed their members to prepare for the consequences.

"We are aware of the intentions to sack some people believed to owe their allegiance to the deputy president. We are asking them to go ahead, we have given up," Sudi stated.

With the cabinet reshuffle expected soon, all eyes are on President Kenyatta to see his next move after seemingly establishing his dream team in the Senate and National Assembly.
