Kenya is grappling with a rapid spread of COVID-19, nearly three months after the first case was confirmed on March 12.

On June 7, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 167 new infections, raising the total to 2,767, during a COVID-19 press conference in Nairobi.

Isiolo Governor Mohamed Kuti, chairman of the Health Committee at the Council of Governors, expressed concern over the virus's rapid spread, stating that 36 counties had reported positive cases by Sunday.

"This virus is spreading very fast in counties now," he said, emphasizing the need for the Counties Emergency Response Committee to convene an urgent meeting.
