On Sunday, June 7, 2020, La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation announced a joint tribute to the victims of the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of the tribute, a minute of silence will be held before all La Liga games, as well as matches in Segunda, Segunda B, and Tercera divisions.

"Both organisations have reached an agreement to pay a sincere tribute this season to all those who have left us because of the pandemic, as well as their families," said a joint statement.

The first match back will be on Wednesday between Rayo Vallecano and Albacete, followed by top-flight fixtures restarting on Thursday.

Spain has been able to bring the virus under control in recent weeks, but the country remains one of the worst-hit overall, with over 27,000 deaths confirmed.
