Giraffe Manor Faces Backlash ¶
Kenya's exclusive Giraffe Manor hotel has reopened its doors to locals, but the move has sparked outrage among Kenyans who claim the hotel previously discriminated against them through pricing policies.
According to social media posts, the hotel's management announced that it would be reopening to Kenyans, but many are questioning the timing and sincerity of the move.
PR practitioner Anyiko Owoko shared her own experience of being charged up to Sh60,000 ($600) for unnecessary add-ons like an airport transfer, car, and chauffeur when she tried to have breakfast at the hotel.
Many other Kenyans have come forward with similar stories of discriminatory treatment at the hotel, with some accusing the management of supporting racial segregation and preferring white tourists over African locals.
