On Friday, Meru County Revenue Board CEO John Ntoiti stormed Baite Television Station, owned by Woman Rep Kawira Mwangaza and her husband Baicu Murega, over the outstanding debt.
The TV station is located next to Mwangaza's residence in Makutano area, and the debt allegedly dates back to 2016.
Ntoiti claimed the couple owed the county Sh509,000 for land rates, license, and other fees, but Mwangaza and Murega denied the allegations, saying they did not owe the county any money.
According to Ntoiti, the outstanding payments included refuse collection dating back to 2016, installation of a communication mast, change of user for a plot, land rates, and vehicle branding.
Mwangaza demanded that Ntoiti produce a court order allowing his team to enter her compound, but Ntoiti insisted that they only wanted the company to pay Sh200,000 for a mast tower.
However, Mwangaza disputed this claim, saying the mast belonged to a mobile telephony company, not the county.
The confrontation between Ntoiti and Mwangaza escalated into a shouting match, with the duo telling Ntoiti to go to court to recover any money.
