On June 6, 2020, Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata hinted at a major shake-up in the Government, warning that corrupt Cabinet Secretaries and heads of parastatals would not be spared.
Speaking during a food distribution event in Muthithi, Kigumo Sub-county, Kang'ata stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta was in the process of recruiting committed individuals to drive his development and unity agenda.
According to Kang'ata, those Cabinet Secretaries and parastatal heads engaging in corrupt deals and hindering the implementation of government projects would face the axe.
He emphasized that the President was working tirelessly to ensure all ongoing projects across the country were completed before 2022.
"The President is on record saying he is determined to ensure the Country is united, a move which was initiated through the handshake. If as a leader you are not supporting the President in his efforts then you shouldn’t be in Government," Kang'ata said.
He further hinted that there would be a new political dispensation, with a team committed to delivering for Kenyans, adding that leaders facing criminal or corrupt cases would be dropped in the new changes.
