Kenyan Premier League (KPL) teams are in limbo as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt the season. Gor Mahia coach Steven Polack has called for decisive action, urging the league to either award his team the title or cancel the season.

On June 6, President Uhuru Kenyatta extended the nationwide curfew, making it impossible for the remaining 10 matches to be played. The league was indefinitely suspended on March 13, following the first reported case of coronavirus in the country.

Polack emphasized that the situation is dire, stating, 'I have washed my hands on this season because it will be impossible to complete the remaining matches. As KPL meets this week, my proposal to them is to either cancel the season and hand over the title to us or nullify it.'

Gor Mahia leads the KPL log with 54 points after 23 rounds of matches, with second-placed Kakamega Homeboyz seven points adrift from 22 matches. Polack acknowledged that any decision made by KPL will evoke reactions from clubs, but urged the league to prioritize the safety of players and fans.

Polack's proposal is set to be discussed at the next governing council meeting, chaired by KPL chairman Ambrose Rachier, who is also Gor Mahia chairman. The meeting is expected to seal the fate of this season.
