Published on June 7, 2020, Johns Hopkins University reported 749 coronavirus deaths in the United States over the past 24 hours.
The latest fatalities bring the total number of deaths in the country to 109,791, with over 1.9 million cases reported, according to the university's real-time tally.
Despite the high number of deaths, some 500,000 people have recovered from the disease.
The United States has suffered the largest number of both Covid-19 deaths and infections, but several European countries have a higher death toll on a per capita basis.
President Donald Trump has stated that the country is 'largely through' the pandemic, but health care professionals are concerned about the potential for a new surge in infections following mass demonstrations against police brutality and racism.
