Published on June 7, 2020
Size 8, a renowned gospel artiste, has been open about her struggles with depression, even when she was at the height of her fame and fortune.
Speaking in her documentary 'Size 8 Dame Wa K-South', Size 8 shared her experiences, revealing how she felt like she was losing herself in the process of becoming a celebrity.
‘We were so many in the house, that is why am loud, when you are soft spoken no one will hear you.'
Size 8's journey to stardom was not an easy one. She faced numerous challenges, including financial struggles, as she recounted how she was forced to drop out of Manchester University due to lack of funds.
‘It's then that I started working at Calif Records. I started washing the studios and later Clemmo decided to release our first song 'Size8'.'
Despite her success, Size 8 struggled with depression, feeling pressure to perform and maintain a public image. She revealed how she would often drink alone and struggle with relationships.
‘I used to work hard and at the time Beyonce and Wahu were my role models. I used to see Sishake Vizuri I should shake more. All I had dreamed off was happening and that is when I started getting into depression, I never had real friends and was under pressure to perform.'
However, Size 8 found solace in her faith and re-accepted Christ as her personal savior seven years ago. She has since spoken about the importance of her faith in her life and how it has helped her overcome her struggles with depression.
