President Uhuru Kenyatta's statement on June 6, 2020, that most counties were not prepared enough to handle the novel coronavirus has sparked outrage among Kenyans, particularly in Siaya County.

According to the president, Siaya County has only 10 isolation beds, while Busia County has a 34-bed isolation facility that was full two days ago.

Siaya County Governor Cornel Rasanga and Senator James Orengo have come under fire for their county's inadequate preparedness to halt the spread of coronavirus.

Many citizens have taken to social media to slam the county's leadership, with some calling for credible ODM primaries to address the Luo Nyanza problem.

President Kenyatta also announced that the country had confirmed 126 new cases of COVID-19 with three more fatalities.
