President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to extend the lockdown in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Mandera has sparked a heated debate among Kenyans. The extension, which was announced on June 6, 2020, has left many wondering if the measures are necessary to combat the spread of COVID-19.

According to the new directive, the cessation of movement in and out of the affected areas has been extended by 30 days. The dusk-to-dawn curfew has also been moved to 9pm to 4am, effective immediately. The government's ban on public gatherings has been extended by 30 days, while schools will start reopening gradually from September 1, 2020.

Some Kenyans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the president's decision, citing the adverse effects of the lockdown on the economy and the health system. Alvin Mwangi, a Twitter user, stated, 'We have seen adverse effects of COVID-19 in the country! The health system is being over stretched & strained. #UhuruDontLiftLockdown until we are able to contain. We need to highly increase and invest in the health sector… a clear and strong shift from curative to preventive.'

However, others have expressed support for the president's decision, citing the need to protect the country from the spread of the virus. The debate continues, with many Kenyans taking to social media to express their views on the matter.
