Uhuru Announces Inter-Faith Council to Reopen Places of Worship

On June 6, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a major development in the country's efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. Following consultations, the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Interior will constitute an Inter-Faith Council within 7 days to work out protocols for reopening places of worship.

The announcement was made in a video address, which has been widely shared on social media. In the address, President Kenyatta emphasized the importance of working together to find solutions to the challenges posed by the pandemic.
