On Friday, the German Football League (DFL) fined Borussia Dortmund players Jadon Sancho and Manuel Akanji for violating health guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The incident occurred on May 16, when six Dortmund players, including Sancho and Akanji, got their hair cut by a hairdresser who then asked some of them to take pictures with him.
According to the DFL, the players broke the health guidelines that have governed Bundesliga clubs and players since the league restarted.
"It is clear that pro players also need to get their hair cut. But that has to happen in line with the medical and hygiene concept," the DFL said in a statement.
Sancho, 20, responded on Twitter, describing the decision as an "absolute joke".
Sancho and Akanji were fined by the DFL for their actions, but the club was not held responsible.
The Bundesliga is set to finish by the end of the month, with five rounds of matches left in the season.
Teams must adhere to strict health guidelines that regulate the process and operation of training sessions and games.
