Published on June 6, 2020, a mother's account of navigating the challenges of homeschooling during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the world in lockdown, many families have been forced to adapt to a new reality: homeschooling. For one mother, this has meant juggling work, education, and family life, all while keeping her children safe and healthy.

She recalls the initial chaos of trying to balance work and family responsibilities, with information coming at them from all directions. 'It got so bad at one point that we welcomed interruptions like power outages and gadget malfunctions just so we could take a break.'

However, as time went on, the family realized the importance of establishing a routine. They set limits on screen time, created a schedule, and included mealtimes and bedtimes. While they still struggle to find time for exercise, they have learned to appreciate the structure and stability that a routine provides.

When technology fails or an impromptu video call interrupts their schedule, the mother reminds herself that 'We're living through a global pandemic. What's important is that you are safe and healthy, especially mentally.'

As the pandemic continues, many families will have to adapt to this new reality. For one mother, homeschooling has become a necessary part of life, but one that also brings its own set of challenges and rewards.
