As the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, the global banking sector saw a sharp rise in malware attacks in the first quarter of 2020. This surge in attacks was largely attributed to the increased adoption of online banking services.

According to a report, 'JS/Spy.Banker' was the most prevalent banking malware, accounting for more than a third of all banking malware detections during this period. These malicious programs targeted sensitive banking and credit card information stored in victims' browsers.
