On June 5, 2020, racing's highest earner of all-time, Arrogate, was humanely put to sleep at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky.

Arrogate, a seven-year-old son of Unbridled's Song, had been experiencing health issues and was undergoing several tests, including spinal tap evaluation, x-ray, ultrasound, and CT scan, but none of the tests were able to determine the cause of his illness.

Arrogate's breeding was suspended last week due to an initial suspected sore neck, and he had fallen to the ground in his stall where staff tried to help.

"This is terribly hard on everyone at Juddmonte, most especially on Steve Dotsey and Jorge Chavarria who cared for Arrogate daily. They had an inexplicable rapport with him," said Juddmonte Group CEO Douglas Erskine Crum.

Arrogate was purchased by Bob Baffert for Prince Khalid and went on to become one of the decade's most unbelievable players on track, winning several high-profile races, including the Pegasus World Cup and the Dubai World Cup.

He has already bred three crops, and some fine young yearlings will be at the sales later this year, with some of his special qualities passed on to them.
