On June 5, 2020, Education CS George Magoha expressed his disappointment with parents who are not taking good care of their children, resulting in early pregnancies.

Receiving the final education Covid-19 response committee report, Prof Magoha emphasized that parents should only have children they can adequately care for.

‘If you have no time looking after your child, then perhaps you have no business creating a child,’ Prof Magoha said.

He shared a personal experience of taking three girls from the slums to school with four-year scholarships, only to find out they were pregnant after two months of school closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Prof Magoha urged parents to spend more time with their children, stating that love is measured by the number of minutes spent with a child, not by the amount of money given.

He hinted that schools would reopen soon due to the rising cases of Covid-19 infections in the country, with 351 public schools being used as quarantine facilities and some universities as isolation centers.
