On Friday, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha received the final report from the Covid-19 National Education Response Committee at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).
According to the report, schools will not reopen anytime soon, as the government is not ready to put the health of schoolchildren at risk.
Magoha stated that the Ministry of Health will scrutinize Covid-19 pandemic data before making a decision on reopening learning institutions.
He emphasized that the ministry will review the report before advising the country on the steps to be taken regarding the academic calendar.
During the briefing, Magoha revealed that KICD has extended online and radio lessons for students until schools reopen.
President Kenyatta is expected to address the country on Saturday, after which Magoha will disclose the details of the report.
