On June 5, 2020, Tatu City received the green light to proceed with the development of its second phase, which is set to meet the growing demand for business, homes, and social amenities.

The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) granted Tatu City the Strategic Environment Assessment approval, allowing the city to continue its development on a 2,500-acre space.

Tatu City's first phase, also 2,500 acres, has seen significant progress with over 50 businesses operating or developing, two schools open with 3,000 students in attendance daily, and more than 5,000 homes delivered or under construction.

Evans Dimba, deputy country head for Rendeavour, Tatu City's owner and developer, expressed his gratitude to NEMA for their careful review of the city's plans.

Dimba stated, 'We are very pleased to have received our Strategic Environment Assessment from NEMA, whose team we wish to thank for careful review of our plans.'

As part of the development process, Tatu City has commenced multi-stakeholder engagement with monitoring bodies, including the Kenya Wildlife Service, the Water Resources Authority, and Kiambu County.

Tatu City is a Special Economic Zone, spanning 5,000 acres, with high-quality infrastructure for homes, offices, shops, schools, medical facilities, and light industries.

The first company to develop in Tatu City's second phase is Kenya Wines Agencies Ltd, with other companies lining up to join the development.

Companies already operating or developing at Tatu Industrial Park include Cooper K-Brands, Dormans, Chandaria Industries, Twiga Foods, Kim-Fay, Africa Logistics Properties, Mapei, Copia, Tianlong, and Stecol Corporation.
