On June 5, 2020, Nigerian singer Davido revealed that he would be taking a personal sabbatical to prioritize his well-being and limit his interactions with some individuals.
According to Davido, he has spent his life putting others' needs before his own, but now feels it's time to focus on himself.
He shared on Instagram that he had changed his phone number and asked those who couldn't reach him not to try.
"If you can't reach me don't reach me! I'll contact you!! All my life I've put people before me….. I think it is time to actually live my life and take care of myself. I've changed my number!! I needed some cleansing to do LOVE Y'ALL," Davido wrote.
Many of his fans, including celebrities, expressed support for his decision, emphasizing the importance of self-care.
"Preach," replied American rapper Ludacris.
"I just changed my number & Cut off a whole decade of people. I feel every f'ng word in this post. Self-love & self-care is hard for people with big selfless hearts.
