June 5, 2020, marked a day when Kenyan radio presenter Nick Odhiambo found himself at the receiving end of public backlash for his insensitive comments regarding the LGBT community.

According to reports, Odhiambo made a statement about Magic Johnson's son, who is openly gay, stating that he would disown his own son if he came home dressed as a lady. He claimed that there was nothing more painful than raising a child who rejects the values and beliefs instilled in them.

However, his comments did not sit well with many, who felt that he was being insensitive and judgmental. Kenyan media personality Ciku Muiruri came to the defense of the LGBT community, stating that she would love and accept her daughter if she decided to become a man.

Others advised Odhiambo to be careful about the path he chooses to tread and not be quick to judge others. They urged him to accept and support his child, regardless of their sexual orientation.

As the debate rages on, it remains to be seen how Odhiambo will respond to the criticism and whether he will take a more inclusive stance in the future.
