Published on June 5, 2020, a group of men disguised as COVID-19 health inspectors stole a significant amount of money from a supermarket in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
The thieves, wearing masks, face shields, gloves, and white lab jackets, targeted the pension payout point at Checkers supermarket.
According to reports, the thieves made away with 200,000 South African rand while pensioners were standing outside.
Notably, the incident occurred without any reported gunshots or injuries.
South Africa has been experiencing a surge in robberies, despite imposing stringent measures to combat the novel coronavirus.
Earlier, thieves stole liquor worth 300,000 rand from a Shoprite shop in Newton Junction, Johannesburg.
