Published on June 5, 2020, Nairobi — The Pastoralists Parliamentary Group has rallied behind National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, who is facing a challenge from a section of Jubilee MPs led by Kinini Kega.

Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji, who led the group, called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in the matter, offering to mediate in seeking a peaceful resolution.

"We are grateful that the President has decided to retain Duale as Majority Leader. We want to assure you that we have always been loyal and will continue to be loyal," Haji said.

"If there's a feeling that we've gone wrong, we did not intend to do so, but our intention is to work with you through thick and thin," he added.

Despite facing opposition, Duale has found support from other Jubilee MPs, including Mandera Senator Mohamed Mohamud, who praised his efforts in driving the party's agenda.

"We will try and ask the President to believe in us because we have been with him for a long time. We will assure him that Duale will be able to do this," Mohamud said.

However, Duale has accused Kega of trying to extort favours from him and his friends in exchange for withdrawing signatures.
