As the world grapples with the aftermath of George Floyd's tragic death, his family has been overwhelmed with support from people across the globe. The Official George Floyd Memorial Fund, launched just over a week ago, has shattered GoFundMe's records, raising nearly $13 million in donations.

According to a spokesperson for the site, the fundraiser has received the highest number of individual donations for a GoFundMe page, with over 500,000 contributions from 125 countries.

George's brother, Philonise, has stated that the funds will be used to cover funeral and burial expenses, provide counseling, pay for lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and assist the family in their pursuit of justice for George. A portion of the funds will also be allocated to George's estate to care for his children and provide for their education.

Additionally, a separate fundraiser has been set up for George Floyd's daughter, Gianna Floyd, which has raised over $1.6 million to support her 'care and future.'

Interestingly, the GoFundMe donations list reveals that the fundraiser for the US-Mexico border wall, launched in December 2018, has raised over $25 million, while a coronavirus campaign in Italy has received over 206,000 individual donations in less than three months.
