Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has traded in his soccer cleats for drumsticks, joining the Wills & The Willing folk-rock band. The 38-year-old Czech keeper, who retired from football last year, has been working as a technical and performance adviser at Chelsea.

According to Cech, he met Wills & The Willing frontman Ian Wills through Chelsea's director of football operations, David Barnard. The two musicians discovered a shared passion for music and decided to collaborate on several live gigs and a new CD.

Founded in 2005, Wills & The Willing has already employed other former Chelsea stars, Didier Drogba and Michael Essien, on their debut single 'Skin', released in 2007. Cech, who has played the drums with the Czech band Eddie Stoilow on several occasions, expressed his enthusiasm for working with Ian Wills and hinted at a potential long-term collaboration.

"We'll see what the future will bring," Cech said. "But I liked working with Ian and I think it won't end up with a single song." The band's new video clip, 'Iceberg', was released recently, with each member shooting their part separately due to social distancing rules.
