On June 5, 2020, Standard Chartered Bank was crowned the most digitized bank in Kenya at the prestigious Global Banking and Finance Awards.
The bank's impressive digital credentials also earned it the title of Best Corporate Bank in Kenya for 2020, as well as the award for developing the Most Innovative Retail Banking App.
Standard Chartered Bank's Head of Retail Banking, Edith Chumba, attributed the bank's success to strategic investments in technology that complement its innovative drive. 'The awards are a testament to the fact that our digital transformation strategy is already paying off,' she said.
Chumba noted that the bank's digital transformative agenda aimed to disrupt traditional banking methods and replace them with a more convenient and customer-centric approach. The SC Mobile platform, launched with over 70 digitally accessible services, has delivered impressive results, with over 52% of all service requests and 50% of all bank service requests managed through digital channels.
Standard Chartered Bank has also demonstrated its commitment to innovation by unveiling a Ksh10 billion war chest to finance viable fintech ideas in April 2019. The bank was looking for fresh ideas in various sectors, including banking and health, with a view to aligning its business with current market trends.
