On June 5, 2020, the Association of Kenya Professional Insurance Agents (AKPIA) took a significant step in adapting to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic by partnering with mTek Services, a digital insurance broker.

The partnership aims to increase insurance uptake in the face of the pandemic, leveraging technology to simplify and streamline the insurance process.

mTek Services' CEO, Bente Krogmann, highlighted the benefits of the partnership, stating, "AKPIA members across Kenya can now take advantage of the ease and simplicity of the mTek Agent App."

The app allows insurance agents to onboard clients, manage them, and reconcile accounts digitally, eliminating the need for paper-based processes.

Insurance agents endorsed the app, citing its potential to be a valuable tool in the current environment where containment measures against Covid-19 have been enhanced.

AKPIA chairperson Clifford Ochieng emphasized the importance of digital solutions in retaining clients and attracting new prospects, saying, "It's clear that in times of Covid-19 we need to provide our member agencies with a digital solution which enables them to retain their clients and attract new prospects."
