On June 4, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta was set to purge several Jubilee party leaders, including Garissa Township MP Aden Duale, from their positions.
However, Duale managed to save his face after a dramatic meeting with the President at State House.
According to sources, the President approached Duale before a Parliamentary Group meeting and offered him an ultimatum: resign or face removal from his position.
Duale chose to plead with the President instead, and the two met for about 30 minutes before the meeting was delayed by an hour.
During their meeting, Duale broke down in tears and begged the President to spare him, prompting the President to skip mentioning his name during the meeting.
As a result, Duale was spared from the purge, and his name was not mentioned during the voting process.
