On June 4, 2020, the Kenyan health ministry confirmed 124 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country's total to 2,340. The cases were detected from 2,640 samples analyzed over a 24-hour period.

The new cases are distributed across various counties, with Mombasa leading the pack at 40, followed by Nairobi (38), Busia (26), Kajiado (6), Kiambu (3), Garissa (2), Taita Taveta (2), Muranga, and Elgeyo Marakwet (1).

Elgeyo Marakwet recorded its first COVID-19 case, increasing the number of counties with reported infections to 36.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe revealed that the cases include 119 Kenyans and 5 foreigners, comprising 2 Somalis, 2 Tanzanians, and 1 Eritrean.

The breakdown of the new cases by gender shows that 100 are male, while 24 are female.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the nation on Saturday regarding the relaxation of COVID-19 containment measures.
