On May 25, 2020, a Kenyan woman in the US narrowly escaped death after being stabbed 17 times by her husband in a domestic dispute.
Elizabeth Chege, a mother of three, was attacked by her husband, Christopher Mburu, 53, at their home while their two daughters, Melissa and Faith, slept.
According to Chege, Mburu walked in and stabbed her multiple times in the back, chest, and hands after a quarrel at around 8am.
"He stabbed me 17 times in my back, chest, and hands after a domestic quarrel at around 8am when my two daughters were asleep," Chege said in an interview.
Despite suffering severe injuries, Chege is currently in stable condition at a hospital.
After the attack, Mburu fled the scene in his car but was later found dead in a burning vehicle in the woods, with reports indicating that he had succumbed to his injuries.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise funds for Chege and her children as she recovers from the attack.
"We call upon everyone who stands up against domestic violence to help brave Elizabeth, the mother of three, have a peace of mind during this difficult time and be able to support her children on her long road to recovery," a message on the account reads.
