On May 25, 2020, reports emerged that several residents of Kikuyu had developed stomachaches after consuming food items packed in bags labelled William Ruto foundation and Kimani Ichungwah.

Deputy President William Ruto has denied these claims, calling them 'political thuggery.'

According to Ruto, his foundation only distributes relief food through churches, mosques, and with the involvement of local leaders.

He further stated that the strange food donations in question were hurriedly thrown from moving vehicles to unsuspecting public with fake branding, not from the Foundation.

Ruto pointed fingers at those behind the distribution of the poisonous food as people who are playing with the health and lives of innocent Kenyans to achieve political gains.

He added that it is revolting, despicable, callous, and cruel to play with the health and lives of innocent human beings to score political points.

Kenyan Digest understands that the rift between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy had widened after Ruto's allies were ousted from various positions.

The Jubilee party management said that the crackdown and clean-up of the party to punish defiant members is ongoing.
