Published on May 25, 2020, a six-month-old baby has been confirmed to have contracted COVID-19, making it the youngest patient to get the disease in the country.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has urged Kenyans to be cautious, as the myth that young people are immune to the disease has been proven false.

"The myth that young people can't get the disease... has been proven to be false," Mr Kagwe said, citing the case of a six-month-old baby who was among those confirmed to have coronavirus.

Mr Kagwe emphasized the importance of prevention measures, such as wearing a mask when in public and maintaining a 1.5-meter distance in offices or places visited.

He also advised parents to be extra careful, as it is easy for them to bring back the disease to their children.

"Do not encourage any visitors, let them stay at their houses for a change, they can come back when the baby is grown," Mr Kagwe said.
