La Liga president Javier Tebas expressed optimism about the resumed season, hoping to start on June 11 with the Seville derby, a single game for all of Spain.
On May 24, Tebas told Movistar Plus television that it was possible to have the first Liga game on June 11, with the Seville derby between Real Betis and Sevilla at 2200 (2000 GMT).
He emphasized the importance of a single league game that day, so teams could play exclusively for all of Spain, as a tribute to the challenges faced by the country.
La Liga's restart date was confirmed by Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday, who announced that the league could resume from its lockdown in the week beginning June 8.
However, Tebas cautioned that fans should still be wary of the dangers posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, urging caution and emphasizing the need for players to undergo tests and have their temperatures taken before games.
La Liga's season was suspended in March due to the pandemic, with Barcelona sitting top of the table, two points ahead of Real Madrid. The proposed final round is expected to be completed by the end of July.
