Joshua Masakha, a 12-year-old swimmer from Mombasa, has been making waves in the swimming world with his impressive skills and dedication to the sport.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has limited his training opportunities, Masakha remains focused on his goal of becoming one of Kenya's most celebrated swimmers.

With six national records to his name, Masakha is already a force to be reckoned with in the swimming community.

"For one to be an Olympian, a lot of dedication is required. All dreams are possible, just that we need to work harder to achieve them," Masakha said in an interview.

Born on November 26, 2007, Masakha started swimming at the age of three under the guidance of coach Elizabeth Muli.

He credits his coaches, including Abdul Malik, for motivating and inspiring him to pursue his passion for swimming.

"I broke the 50m freestyle record in 10-11 years at the National Trials in Kasarani in April and in November, I broke 50m free style short course and 100m free style short course 10-11 years records," Masakha said.

With his sights set on the Olympics, Masakha is determined to work hard and achieve his dream of representing Kenya in the Games.
