On Sunday evening, a tragic incident unfolded in Kairingo village, Igambang'ombe Sub County, Tharaka-Nithi County, where a 32-year-old man allegedly stabbed his brother to death in a drunken argument.

According to preliminary investigations, Onesmus Nyaga and his brother Ephantus Munene, 34, had been drinking and got into a short argument before the fatal incident occurred.

Confirming the incident, Igambang'ombe Deputy County Commissioner, Mr Fred Masinjila stated that the two brothers were drunk at the time of the argument.

"The two who are said to have been drunk had a short argument before the accused stabbed his brother severally on the chest and on the stomach dying on the spot," Mr Masinjila said.

Police have launched a manhunt for Onesmus Nyaga, who immediately went into hiding after committing the crime, leaving his brother's lifeless body in a pool of blood.

The incident has shocked the residents of Kairingo village, who have blamed it on the increased consumption of illicit brews in the area.
