Japanese professional wrestler Hana Kimura, who gained fame for her appearance on the Netflix reality series “Terrace House: Tokyo,” has died at the age of 22.
According to reports, Ms. Kimura was found dead at her home, with the cause of death and exact date of death not immediately available.
World Wonder Ring Stardom, the wrestling group Ms. Kimura was a part of, released a statement expressing their condolences and asking fans to be respectful and allow time for the family and friends to process their grief.
Ms. Kimura was a second-generation wrestler and the daughter of pro wrestler Kyoko Kimura. She made her professional wrestling debut in 2016 after passing an audition for the Wrestle-1 Japanese group in 2015.
She also performed with Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling and competed in several matches in the Ring of Honor wrestling series, including a sold-out event at Madison Square Garden.
Ms. Kimura's death has sparked tributes on social media, including one from American wrestler Ronda Rousey, who wrote about the importance of releasing negative emotions in a way that doesn't harm others.
