Published on May 25, 2020, a police chopper was dispatched from Nairobi to evacuate 10 health workers from Bura in Garissa over safety concerns, sparking outrage among local leaders.
Leaders in the area have faulted security officers for failing to provide the much-needed security and accused them of abetting militia activities.
Area Ward Rep Abdullahi Omar expressed shock at the evacuation, stating that he was not aware of any emergency that may have prompted the chopper to be dispatched from Nairobi.

Dr Mohamed Diis Shafat faulted the government, saying dispatching a chopper to evacuate health workers was uncalled for, and that it was indirectly emboldening terrorists who thrive on threatening their enemies.
