Published on May 24, 2020, millions of Muslims around the world are today celebrating Eid al-Fitr to mark the end of Ramadan amid concerns over the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Restrictions on movement to curb the spread of COVID-19 have led to muted festivities across the continent with none of the usual crowded streets, or malls packed with last-minute shoppers.

However, sports stars have taken to social media to share their best wishes with the world's Muslim population, including Napoli center-back Kalidou Koulibaly, Liverpool's Sadio Mane, Barcelona's Asisat Oshoala, and Schalke 04's Amine Harit.

These footballers also shared a word of prayer for their followers, wishing them a peaceful and blessed Eid al-Fitr.
