On May 24, 2020, Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) secured a new deal with German head coach Gernot Rohr to continue leading the Super Eagles.

The agreement, which came with certain conditions, includes Rohr being paid in Naira and living in Nigeria.

"Yes, I can confirm that we found an agreement with NFF to continue our collaboration for two and half years," Rohr told Cable.

He expressed pride in the confidence shown by the NFF, stating it is rare to work in the same national team for more than six years.

"Our team has a good future, our players have discipline, and the staff is working in the same spirit," Rohr said.

The NFF has been trying to secure Rohr's commitment to the team since 2016, when he first joined the Super Eagles.

"Yes, we want to go to the next Afcon and do very well there. And we want to start the World Cup qualifiers well and participate in Qatar with good results there," Rohr continued.

He emphasized the importance of stability and complicity in the team's progress, stating, "I am happy to continue with the squad we built together since 4 years."

With the commitment of the players and the support of the fans, Rohr is optimistic about the team's future, saying, "There is still big work to do. With the commitment of the players and the support of the fans, we will able to do great things."
