On Saturday, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen asked Siaya counterpart Senator James Orengo to forgive him, citing his respect for Orengo's achievements over time.
Murkomen had previously shamed Orengo before the Senate in regards to his academic qualifications, stating that despite attending the same university, Orengo had no Master's degrees and had not taught at a university.
However, in his apology, Murkomen acknowledged Orengo's vast experience and seniority, saying, 'My respect for Sen. James Orengo as a lawyer, a politician and a legislator is well documented within and outside Parliament.'
Murkomen also urged Orengo not to use his experience to look down on young and upcoming lawyers, saying, 'It would, therefore, be unjust to institutionalize a culture that disenfranchises young people and privileges age as the only material professional criterion.'
