On Saturday evening, a team of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the Villa Franca Estate home of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei in Imara Daima, Nairobi.
The visit marked a new development in the ongoing investigation into Kenei's murder, which was first reported in March.
According to sources close to the investigation, the Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti, was part of the team that conducted the impromptu visit.
"The visit was due to new leads in the murder of Kenei," our source revealed.
The new team of detectives from the homicide department took over the investigation after the first team was recalled last month, citing loopholes in their handling of the case.
As part of the new investigation, three officers who were Kenei's former colleagues at the office of the Deputy President, William Ruto, were grilled and recorded statements in connection with the murder.
It was reported that Kenei was to record a statement with the police regarding the fake arms scam involving former Sports Cabinet Secretary, Rashid Echesa, before he was reported missing and eventually found dead.
DCI had earlier stated that three men were at Sergeant Kenei's house before the body was found.
