May 24, 2020 - The Jubilee party has launched a crackdown on Senate committee leaders who defied orders and voted to save Deputy Senate Speaker Kithure Kindiki from ouster.
According to sources, the targeted leaders include Sammson Cherargei, chairman of the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights, who voted to rescue Kindiki against the party's will.
Others on the list include Bomet Senator Christopher Langat, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Education, and Laikipia Senator Nderitu Kinyua, chairperson of the Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations Committee.
Senator Irungu Kang'ata, the chief whip, has vowed to reconstitute committees and remove those who defied his orders to support the motion to oust Kindiki.
