On April 23, 2020, Raila Odinga held a meeting with a faction of Jubilee party politicians, sparking speculation about the party's internal dynamics.

According to Raila Odinga, the meeting aimed to address the ongoing infighting within the Jubilee party, which has seen several high-profile members ousted from their positions.

Just days prior to the meeting, the party had ejected its Senate Deputy Leader, Kithure Kindiki, following a vote by 54 senators. Only seven senators voted against the motion to oust Kindiki.

Deputy President William Ruto's allies have been at the center of the party's infighting, with several members, including Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Nakuru senator Susan Kihika, being ousted from their positions.

MP Moses Kuria has alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta had long ago fired his deputy, and that plans to impeach Ruto were underway. However, Kuria claimed that the plans were futile, as Ruto was merely a Deputy President without powers.

The seven senators who voted against the motion to oust Kindiki were:

  • Sen. Kipchumba Murkomen
  • Sen. Susan Kihika
  • Sen. Aaron Cheruiyot
  • Sen. Cherargei
  • Sen. Kithure Kindiki
  • Sen. Christopher Langat
  • Sen. John Kinyua
