On Saturday, Borussia Dortmund secured a crucial 2-0 win over Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga's second weekend of restart, following a two-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The win, which saw goals from Raphael Guerreiro and Achraf Hakimi, left Dortmund a point behind league leaders Bayern Munich, who are set to face defending champions Bayern in a top-of-the-table clash on Tuesday.

Before kick-off, a minute's silence was held in memory of the victims of Covid-19, which has claimed 8,216 lives in Germany.

On the pitch, Guerreiro opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, tapping home after Erling Braut Haaland mistimed his attempt to meet the cross.

With the players' calls echoing around the near-empty stadium, Dortmund had a let-off early in the second-half when Wolfsburg winger Renato Steffen clipped the crossbar.

However, Dortmund sealed the win when Jadon Sancho dribbled at the Wolfsburg defence, then laid a pass off to Hakimi, who fired home 12 minutes from time.

Wolfsburg's replacement Felix Klaus was sent off in the final minutes for fouling Hakimi.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen moved up to third place with a 3-1 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach, who dropped to fourth.

Leverkusen's rising star Kai Havertz netted twice, including a penalty, to seal the win.

Second-from-bottom Werder Bremen gained a valuable win in the relegation fight with a 1-0 win over Freiburg, while bottom side Paderborn are now nine points from safety with seven games left.
