On May 23, 2020, Kenyans were left reeling after Boni Khalwale shared a distressing picture of Allan Makaka's lifeless body on social media. The former Senator had taken to Twitter to mourn the death of his nephew, who had died in a tragic accident along Mombasa Road.
However, many Kenyans felt that Khalwale's decision to share the graphic image was insensitive and in poor taste. 'Sorry for your loss, but stop behaving like a witch by sharing a picture of such a demise,' tweeted @kot_hacker.
Others echoed similar sentiments, with @Ali_Manzu urging Khalwale to delete the picture, saying 'Ndugu Daktari tafadhali ondoa hio picha ya mwili wake.' The hashtag #DeleteThePic trended on Twitter as Kenyans expressed their outrage and disappointment at Khalwale's actions.
As the debate raged on, many took to Twitter to express their condolences to the Makaka family, while also calling on Khalwale to show some respect and delete the post. 'Please @KBonimtetezi remove the crash accident picture in respect to Departed. This is insensitive to say the least,' tweeted @Elishivs.
Despite the backlash, Khalwale has yet to delete the post, leaving many to wonder if he will take their advice and remove the graphic image.
