On May 23, 2020, a devastating road accident occurred at the Londiani Junction on the Nakuru-Kericho Highway, claiming the lives of five people and leaving scores injured.
According to Rift Valley Traffic Enforcement officer Rashid Ali, the accident involved five vehicles, including a lorry that lost control and crashed into oncoming motorists.
‘It appears the lorry driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the oncoming motorists. The three died on the spot,’ Ali told The Standard.
Witnesses reported that the accident occurred around 11am, and police and first responders were quickly dispatched to the scene to retrieve bodies trapped inside the mangled wreckage.
Londiani MCA Stanley Bett confirmed that rescue efforts were ongoing to rush survivors to the hospital.
